While
Maproc get ready to
celebrate our annual
Merdeka Day Celebration
in Shanghai, Maproc
and its members want
to pay a special tribute
to their Pakcik and
Makcik. Our president
for the last 9 years
KY Lai and his wife
Maureen Lai for their
efforts and personal
sacrifice to bring friendship,
networking, and joy
each year to fellow
Malaysians as we celebrate
our Merdeka Day.
Both
are fondly known or
called Uncle Lai and
Aunty Maureen or Pakcik
and Makcik and some
even venture to call
them “Datuk”
and “Datin”
to show their appreciation
for their contribution
to members of Maproc
and fellow Malaysians
in China.
As
one of the founder
member and President
of Maproc which was
a home away from home
association it given
him a great pleasure
in meeting Malaysians
living overseas in
Shanghai. Together
with his wife Maureen
Lai (Makcik to most)
they enjoy working
with the committee
members of the Malaysian
Association or Maproc
in making our association
one of the most active
association here,
organizing travels,
networking, and other
functions with the
highlight in the annual
Merdeka Celebration
for Malaysians and
friends as the most
memorable thing we
do each year.
To
be named as one of
the 300
most influential people
in Shanghai in 2007
by the Shanghai Tatler
Magazine,
and made an honorary
Rotarian for his charity
works, KY Lai not
only brings great
honor to all Malaysians
living and working
here but shows us
their contribution
goes beyond Maproc
and his business.
